Mackintosh Rose Partnership - quality assurance for the people sector
  Courses planned for 2005/6
We are currently running training courses and workshops on Self Assessment for the Care Sector, to meet the needs of the new inspection process...

Will you be ready for Self Assessment?

CSCI say "Care service providers, not inspectors, are responsible for the quality of the services they provide. Care providers must be honest in how they judge their own performance so that they gain the trust and confidence of the public."

MRP are offering workshops in 2005/6 that address the three key areas: self-assessment, service user feedback, and improvement planning. Workshops dates are staggered in each location to minimise absence form the workplace...

Understanding Self Assessment

“We will take a tough line on misleading self-assessments and see them as a sign that the service is not being well managed.” [CSCI, November 2004]

This one day workshop will prepare you to meet CSCI's requirement for accurate and objective self assessment. We use a tried and tested model involving staff and partners in a comprehensive review of services.

The workshop covers:

  • Background to self assessment
  • Self-assessment cycle
  • Getting people involved
  • Gathering information
  • Drawing conclusions
  • Recording outcomes
  • Moving forward - improvement planning

Improvement Planning

“We will expect care providers to be honest about the strengths of their services and explain what they are doing to improve what is not so good.” [CSCI, November 2004]

CSCI will expect your self assessment to lead to action - to maintain and improve quality of service. This half-day workshop introduces an effective process to plan, manage and review development.

The workshop covers:

  • Drawing up an Improvement Plan
  • Putting the Plan into operation
  • Reviewing and monitoring progress
  • Results
  • Linking the Plan to Self-assessment

Service User Feedback

“The views of people who have used the services of that care provider will be central to any self-assessment.” [ CSCI, November 2004]

Service user feedback is a vital source of information to help you judge quality of service. This half-day workshop will help you develop an appropriate model to gather information, and interpret and present findings.

The workshop covers:

  • Why seek Service User feedback?
  • Selecting appropriate techniques
  • Reviewing the information
